Chief Nursing Information Officer NHS England, Administrator, Materials Nexus
at NHS England
Industry: Health Tech, Education, Governance, and boards
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
I am an accomplished NHS Nurse leader and educator with a breadth of operational and strategic experience in acute, community, private, commissioning and voluntary health organisations. This enables me to identify and initiate solutions to service and system problems across geographical and professional boundaries. I work tirelessly to help others flourish beyond the boundaries of nursing, and believe the confluence of med tech and innovative care pathways will fundamentally improve healthcare quality, safety, and access, if given the infrastructure to flourish. Outside of my part time NHS role I relish the opportunity to support developing tech startups through mentorship and advisor roles. From a work perspective it is hugely important that I make a positive contribution to all the roles I undertake. Not only in delivering the required performance, but by having the courage to ask critical questions about projects I lead to ensure they produce outputs of genuine value. This is all driven by a desire to make a material difference to people’s lives. I like to challenge myself by undertaking new programmes of study (formal and informal), my motto being to never stop learning. Personally, I am a proud single mother, having watched my son make it to Cambridge University and is now an accomplished successful entrepreneur. This fills me with pride, as he has become a high achiever and role model for black male equality and equity that would make any mother proud, alongside his good heart. My few close friends mean the world to me and we are always there when needed and more besides. I am a major bike enthusiast as a mountain bike cyclist I ride for fun, read and watch bike racing and hang out up mountains watching the most amazing athletes in the world. My artistic flourishes are played out in sewing projects, give me a sewing machine, a pattern, and some nice fabric, and I can make you anything.
